Standard NorseBoat Kits

Would you like to save money and have the experience of building your own NorseBoat Sailing & Rowing Cruiser?  We now offer standard NorseBoats in partially built form for owner completion. 

The kit includes:

1. •High quality lapstrake fibreglass hull with gelcoat finish and the interior frames bonded in
   

2. •All pre-cut wooden components to finish the interior and deck with minor trimming and fitting
   

3. •Fiberglass boat cloth layer as abrasion resistance for seat tops and deck
   

4. •3- piece steam bent ash coaming
   

5. •All interior and deck hardware 
   

6. •All sailing components pre-assembled, including carbon mast, mainsail and Harken hardware
   

7. •One set of spruce oars with chafe protection and oarlocks
   

    The only things owner builders need to supply are epoxy, paint/varnish, and other consumables.  Only basic carpentry skills and a modest selection of woodworking tools are required. 

    All options for our standard NorseBoats are also available for kits (click here for NorseBoat Options).

    NorseBoat Kits can be shipped on trailers or cradles to destinations worldwide.

    Customers who wish to receive instruction while building their NorseBoat Kit can attend one of our Owner-Builder Workshops in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

LightCraft Kits

We are currently developing LightCraft Kits that are affordable and easy to assemble, yet are strong, seaworthy, and distinctly NorseBoat in appearance and quality.

    Small boat cruising experts Norseboat Limited and boat kit specialists Chesapeake Light Craft (CLC) have joined forces to develop a unique line of rowing and sailing kits. 

    "CLC's expertise in lapstrake smallcraft kits is a perfect fit for us and our market," says NorseBoat Limited president, Kevin Jeffrey.  CLC, owned by smallcraft designer John C. Harris, has sold nearly 20,000 boat kits worldwide, while NorseBoat has enjoyed broad success with their 12.5- and 17.5-foot camp-cruisers. 

    Envisioned as high-performance sailing, rowing/paddling, and camp-cruising craft optimized for fast construction by amateur boatbuilders, the new line will comprise three boats from 12.5 to 19.5 feet long.  The kits will be sold exclusively through NorseBoat and its dealer network. 

    Owner-Builder Workshops will be offered at our NorseBoat facility in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and other locations around North America. Come build your LightCraft Kit with us! 

    19.5 Norse Faering LightCraft Kit

This traditional Norse style craft has three rowing stations and a simple yet effective sail rig.  The Norse Faering 19.5 LightCraft Kit has been engineered to be easy to assemble by owner-builders and a joy to row and sail.  It will provide would be Vikings with a lot of fun and the satisfaction of building their own boat.  Specifications and prices available soon.  Norse_Faering_brochure.pdf

    17.5 Cruiser LightCraft Kit

Similar in style and performance to our standard NorseBoat 17.5 Cruiser, this LightCraft Kit version is simpler and less robust but provides a versatile, high quality camp cruiser at an affordable price.  It incorporates the same simple sail rig as the Norse Faering 19.5, or upgrade to the sail kit for our standard NorseBoat 17.5 with carbon mast, fully battened mainsail, and Harken hardware.  Specifications and prices available soon. 

    12.5 Tender/Cruiser LightCraft Kit

This LightCraft version of our standard NorseBoat 12.5 was developed along the same lines as the LightCraft 17.5 Cruiser.  Simpler and less robust yet lightweight and versatile, with high performance and classic lines.  It is ideal for those who want to build their own boat or have a more modest budget.  Specifications and prices available soon.
